KiSS (Kisekae Set System) is a blending of art with computers originally designed to allow creation of virtual "paper dolls". Kisekae is short for "kisekae ningyou"; a Japanese term meaning "dress-up dolls". Unlike "computer art" which creates or displays traditional art via a computer, KiSS uses the computer as the medium, allowing the art to be not only animated, but also interactive.

She-Ra (Beta)

August 30th, 2008

This was a quick beta I threw together for the 5th KiSS Theme Challenge, Heroes and Villains. I had started another set months earlier for it, but it just wasn’t moving me, so I did this with 3 weeks left to go. I definitely intend to work more on it in the future, but for now you can see how it’s coming along.

Pissy the Pirate

May 31st, 2008

After the Otaku World forum members revived the KiSS Theme Challenges and decided to do Pirates vs. Ninjas, I became inspired to crank out a sort of generic modern fashion pirate. It was intended to only take a month or so, but I kept drawing more and more and despite running out of time and having to cut several ideas that I wanted to include, I’m proud of this set. I really recommend DirectKiss for viewing this set as it uses FKiss 4 commands that PlayFkiss 0.83b can’t parse. It will have errors and the wardrobe reset function won’t work, but it is otherwise playable. Untested in UltraKiss.

Yellow 4

February 20th, 2006

I never really expected to make a Power Ranger set, but lo and behold, I did! Who doesn’t love the yellow ranger? It includes all the uniforms for all the Super Sentai series I could find, plus some parodies and other fun outfits. Yeah, it’s all pretty cookie cutter, but so is the source material. It ended up being my entry for the KiSS Theme Challenge #1 – Space. It’s FKiss4, but works perfectly in PlayFkiss 0.83b and shouldn’t break in other fkiss3 viewers.

Frosta

November 20th, 2005

Talk about a blast from the past. I started this set back at the very beginning of 2003. That’s why the artwork is so crappy! I kept her around because I hated to throw away all that work, but didn’t want to put in enough to completely redraw/reshade everything, so here is where we are. This was the first time I used the “reset wardrobe” option in a set and you can be sure I’ll include it in every one hereafter. What a surprise, it’s for the Advent Calendar again.

Mrs. Claus

November 23rd, 2003

This is a small little set that I made for the 2003 Advent Calendar. Lots of cookie cutter clothing and it’s kind of boring, but I was determined to get out at least one set that year. What’s worse is that I couldn’t even finish it on my own from lack of inspiration and motivation, so Felix Kramer helped me out with a bit of lineart. Thus, it is considered a collaboration. It did get Editor’s Choice on the BKP, though. Hurrah.

Little Girl

September 12th, 2003

This collab got started ages ago by Alison and then it died, or so I thought. It was picked up and completed by Lilith (I think) and now it’s done. I don’t know the exact date on which it was finished or anything, but it was posted to OW on September 12. In fact, I didn’t even have a copy of this doll until a fellow collaborator downloaded it from OtakuWorld and sent it to me.

Snowman

September 9th, 2002

This set was posted on December 02 as part of Topleka’s Advent Calendar which is what it was created for. I’m not sure why I chose to go with the art style I did. Honestly, I sort of miss the early days of when I was just learning how to draw so I could make KiSS dolls and I tried out so many different styles before I settled on the one I use now. Anyway this set has got a lot of cookie cutter stuff, but I am still quite pleased with the results. It also got Editor’s Choice on OtakuWorld! Hurrah!

Fwah

June 5th, 2002

This was just a doodle in Photoshop that I thought looked cute, so I turned it into a quickie doll. I finished Fwah in 24 hours, though I wasn’t working that entire time so I guess it really took a little less. Either way, it’s just a fun little doll.

Little Miss Cutie

May 26th, 2002

In my opinion, this collaboration was dreadful. Amiko originally provided a very bad palette, but she said we had to follow it, so I did. When she threw the palette out, I redrew the clothes in more suitable colors and sent them back to her, but she didn’t use the better versions in the final doll. On top of that, I just don’t think the doll was all that great. I’m still providing it here because it is a doll I participated in, but I don’t like it.

Dark Side of Cute

March 22nd, 2002

I only did a few masks and a dress for this collaboration, but I was still somewhat proud of my work. I hope to participate in more open collaborations in the future. It’s great to see other people’s interpretations of the same basic theme. Anyway, my contribution is in .cnf 4 in set 4. I’m a little embarrassed that I drew so little when some people drew so much.
