Header Graphic

December 26th, 2011

My goodness, I’ve been so busy sewing this holiday season! I wanted to post pictures of things as I finished them, but I was already on a major time crunch so I had to wait and post them all together. I even have a couple of gifts that I haven’t yet finished so I should have some new stuff to show soon, too.

Check out the rainbow equines and hearthstone pillow!

My Niece, the Mermaid

October 31st, 2011

Time again for Emmy’s Halloween costume. I was more ambitious this year, only following a pattern for the candy bag. Everything else was either significantly modified from a commercial pattern or made up from scratch. Not bad for my second garment ever! I didn’t even have any nightmares about finishing this one. It was pretty exciting seeing her shimmer and sparkle as she walked and getting so many compliments for her costume. This was her first year going door to door which made it even more fun.

Anyway, have a look.

Restructuring

October 11th, 2011

I’m probably going to be restructuring my site very soon. It was always meant to be a place to display the stuff I make, but my interests and goals have changed. I don’t even really do pixel art anymore, and I’m going to be trying to get an Etsy shop going so I need to refocus on what I do now. I also think I’d like to use this as more of a blog than simply a gallery which means talking about my life more. It will be a good excuse to try to take more pictures, too. I really want to make this site something that anyone other than myself would want to see.

Etsy Shop

October 11th, 2011

After thinking about it for a million years, I finally opened an Etsy shop. It’s just commercial sewing patterns right now, but they’re cheap! I’m working on some plushies and things to sell, though. There will definitely be some more delightful flannel unicorns, plus a bunch of other cool stuff I have in the works. Hopefully. We’ll see. I already made a sale, too!

I’m also working on my niece’s Halloween costume for this year. She wanted to be a mermaid, so she’s going to be the most sparkly and iridescent mermaid I can possibly make her. I’m not really using a pattern, either, so it’s been really tough. I can’t believe I’ve almost finished it considering I had no idea what I was doing when I started. Of course I’ll post pictures as soon as I finish.

New Unicorn

April 10th, 2011

So I finished the rainbow unicorn that my sister commissioned for her daughter’s friend and got it posted. I’m pretty pleased with myself on this one – I’m definitely improving my sewing and stuffing skills dramatically with each one I make.

I think I might take a little break on unicorns right now, though, to focus on something else I’ve been wanting to spend some time on – clothes for my Build-A-Bear. Yeah, I’m an overgrown child. At least I have the good sense to keep it hidden away in my craft room and on this website. Anyway, I have no idea how long it will take me to finish but hopefully I can have something to show for my efforts in a couple of days. Even if it is looks dumb and doesn’t fit because I have no idea what I’m doing with clothing construction.

I also need to seriously make a lightbox for photographing my projects. I’ve looked into it and it seems cheap and easy so maybe my next photos won’t look so bad.

Emery’s 4th Birthday

April 7th, 2011

My niece’s birthday was last week and I made her cake. I wish I had thought about it more at the time, but I didn’t get a lot of pictures of it because I sort of forgot about the cake section of my site. Heh, anyway, I’m posting it now so go have a look!

I should have pictures of another unicorn up in a few days. It was a commission for my sister to give as a gift to my niece’s best friend and it’s almost done. I just need to go pick up some more safety eyes then I can stuff it.

I’m Still Alive

April 1st, 2011

Last Christmas I took a tumble down the stairs and hurt my tail bone pretty badly which prevented me from doing much sewing (it hurt too much to sit at the sewing machine for long) but I’m mostly healed now. Anyway, I made this unicorn for my niece and I’m pretty proud of it. Obviously it could use some improvements, but that’s what practice is for. Check it out!

I have a couple of other stuffed animals that should be ready to show soon but I always say that and it’s always weeks or month. It’s just a lot of hand stitching.

Oh! I almost forgot. I’m also working on a new KiSS doll, but it’s not ready to be previewed yet. It’s Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time. She probably won’t be done, at the earliest, until second season is over because they keep introducing new outfits for her and I’d hate to miss any. Also I’m just slow, but whatever.

My Niece, the Fairy

November 14th, 2010

I mentioned before that I made my niece’s Halloween costume this year. Well, here it is. I wish I had gotten a better picture of her in it, but that just wasn’t going to happen. It was my first big sewing project, so I’m really proud of it.

It was really hard for me, though, and I actually had a nightmare last night about it. In the dream, it was the night before Halloween and I was told I had to make another piece for the costume. I felt like I was on Project Runway or something. Anyway, long story short, I was unable to complete the costume in time and I made my niece cry. Glad that didn’t actually happen! Anyway, go look at it.

More CycloDS Skins

November 12th, 2010

Yeah, I made some more skins for my CycloDS flashcart. I finally got the pictures of my niece in her Halloween costume, but I’m waiting to hear from her mom whether I should obscure the face or not. They’re all blurry as hell, but I found one that was sort of decent so that should be up tomorrow or so. That kid seriously won’t stand still, but she’s 3 so I guess that’s her excuse.

Next project? Stuffed animals to give the little munchkin for Christmas. That or the crocheted Tigger I’m making for my mother-in-law. I don’t mind spoiling the surprise here ’cause no one reads this! Ho ho. But anyway, I can’t wait to get some finished projects up here after I, you know, finish them. Also, I know I should start putting some little preview images of some sort up on this News page. It’s too plain. I’ll start next time, I promise.

Updating Again

October 20th, 2010

I know it’s been almost a year since I updated and I have no excuse. I just don’t finish things. But I finished two things that probably won’t be of interest to you! They’re skins for the CycloDS Evolution flashcart for the DS. I happen to own one and also have a thing for Adventure Time so I made some skins out of it. I will almost definitely be making some more soon. I am also sewing my niece’s Halloween costume and some stuffed animals that I will maybe be able to share soon. Fingers crossed, I will finish some stuff this time!

In other news, I’ve been busy this year. I got married to the most amazing man I’ve ever met in my whole life (since I haven’t exactly “met” Andrew W. K. yet and he’s married anyway.) Jokes aside though, he’s really smart and funny and sexy and cuddly and sweet and he almost always smells excellent. And we bought a house. <3

Dabbling in Pixel Art Again

November 17th, 2009

My sister started dolling again recently and it got me inspired. I haven’t done much of anything in probably the last year or two, especially not after the massive hard drive failure that took almost everything I’ve ever drawn with it. I have a whole ton of KiSS dolls I want to make, but I’m taking it slow and working on pixel dolls first. I just hope I can stay focused this time. Maybe in time I will start having doll contests again. It’s a whole world of opportunity!

PS I added some more cake pictures and more will be coming in the next couple of weeks.

Updates and Changes

August 25th, 2009

I know I’ve hardly used this site, and hardly anyone has visited. I can’t say that’s all going to change or anything, but I’ll still keep it around. Anyway, I removed all the star rating stuff ’cause things changed with the newer versions and I don’t know how to configure it easily anymore and I don’t care so much so it’s gone. I’ll be adding more stuff to my site that isn’t pixel art related since I haven’t messed too much with that in the last year or so anyway. I’ve taken up baking and cake decorating so I’ll be featuring that more prominently in the future, at least until I move on to some other hobby. Anyway, take a look at the new food category.

Fairy Tale KiSS Challenge

May 7th, 2009

A new KiSS Theme Challenge is starting, so go check it out. For anyone not familiar with the KTC, it was set up to get KiSS artists creating sets with no pressure to make it super huge and awesome which seems to be one of the biggest killers of unfinished KiSS sets today. I hardly ever make sets anymore without having some kind of structure set up for it, so it helps me if no one else.

Anyway, I think it’s a fun theme and I’m already planning my set for it. I’ll post a preview once I get the base finished.

Oh, and for any first time KiSS artists out there who need help getting a set coded or if you just want some advice or whatever, don’t hesitate to ask me. I’m not the best teacher, but I’ll do whatever I can to help.

Technical Difficulties

April 2nd, 2009

Sorry folks, I seem to have messed up my site a bit. I am trying to sort them all out, but in the meantime, expect to see some weird stuff like SQL errors and missing pages. It would help if I knew what the hell I was doing.

Old, Dead KiSS Sets

October 22nd, 2008

I found an old backup CD-R containing some KiSS sets that I never really got very far with, so I’m trying to salvage whatever I can from them, even if only releasing the bases as templates. I’ve resurrected a few dolls but I’m not going to put up a preview until I have a complete outfit + hair to show.

Anyway, I found one base that I wasn’t really embarrassed by so you can have it as a KiSS template. I hope someone finds it useful.
